Philadelphia's most creative floral studio
The new Fall Winter issue of Philadelphia Wedding is out on Monday June 18th. We have two fabulous features in the stunning new issue, a tablescape and a real wedding.
Our wintry tablescape completely designed by Sullivan Owen including custom cable knit linens, a natural birch bark runner and cozy ombre wrapped stemware and flatware. We had so much fun working on this.
The real wedding feature is Sarah & Faiz at the Horticulture Center. More images from this fantastic wedding coming soon, I promise!
Be sure to grab copy as it's loaded with gorgeous gowns, inspiring real weddings and local Philly talent!
Our bespoke floral hair pieces and crowns were just featured on 100 Layer Cake! This shoot was so much fun because we were working with friends, talented friends at that!
Kathy & Randy had not one but TWO special days and I was so thrilled to be a part of both! They had an intimate City Hall ceremony and then a celebration with family and friends at one of my favorite venues, Terrain. Both days were captured exquisitely by Alison Conklin. You can see more in the Style Me Pretty gallery, here.
Besides having a great love story, Kathy was such a pleasure to design for. She allowed me to choose the most beautiful flowers that week at the market and just let me run with all the different color combinations. The effect was a seasonal explosion of color that still looked cohesive. Terrain is a gorgeous venue and we'll be partnering with them soon for their upcoming Bridal Open House. More on that coming soon!
I'm so happy to share this stunning photo shoot by Kristy Rice of Momental Designs up on Green Wedding Shoes that Sullivan Owen provided floral design for. It was such a pleasure working with this talented group of professionals right after the New Year. The shoot was styled around Kristy's Trellis Pattern just released by Envelopments. I designed the floral pieces to complement the blooms that inspired Kristy's gorgeous paintings. Click here to see the entire post on Green Wedding Shoes and be sure to watch Birdhouse Productions super cute behind the scenes video!
Jessica & Doug's wedding was just featured on 100 Layer Cake and we couldn't be happier. Their wedding was beyond gorgeous and so very personalized. Sullivan Owen even sourced flowers grown from the regions that inspired their entire wedding. Local Dinner Plate Dahlias and succulents, Southern California grown textures and unusual greens from the Pacific Northwest. Click here to see the entire post...
The latest issue of Philadelphia Wedding has arrived and it's jam packed with tons of gorgeous ideas from local vendors. I was thrilled to see the sorbet hued bouquet I designed on the cover!
I also designed a fresh green hand tied bouquet inside the issue. This bouquet made us all wish that Spring would hurry up and get here, before Winter had even started!
The issue is out on stands now, be sure to pick it up today!
If you were in Whole Foods South Street on Tuesday you might have seen two girls dancing around in the checkout lines much to the amusement of the cashiers. Adriene and Sammi were dancing in public because Sullivan Owen floral & event design was just named BEST FLORIST in Philly by Philadelphia Magazine!
OK, I admit that we knew we were up for something because the very talented Trevor Dixon came to the studio to take photos of me at work but we had no idea what our category was. I mean it could have been for Best Cut Flower Food or Best Faux Bois Delivery Boxes (it could happen). I never dared to dream that the Editors of Philadelphia Magazine would honor me and my team in this way our very first year on the scene. I can’t really express how much it means to me and the staff here at Sullivan Owen floral & event design. We will continue to try to provide the absolute best designs and most beautiful flowers for every client and event.
Last night T.O. and I went to the Best of Philly party at the new Cescaphe venue, VIE on North Broad. I was so happy to see Carrie Denny, Fashion Editor of Philadelphia Magazine and Editor in Chief of Philadelphia Weddings, Carrie has been a tremendous supporter of my work and the studio and I can’t thank her enough, but I’ll keep trying!
There were two wall projections featuring all the winners, I’m not ashamed to admit that I waited a LONG time to snap this pic of my name “in lights”.
T.O. and I were happy to run into our longtime friend and columnist extraordinaire Dan Gross of the Daily News and Philly.com who was scoping things out. T.O. and I spotted James Van Der Beek and his wife enjoying the party, he’s in town filming a movie and is apparently super nice. We also had a great time in the photo booth provided by Shutterbooth. Here’s our pics…
T.O. and I had some drinks & treats and met a few new friends including Stu and Janet of 3 Potato 4. I’ve been to their monthly Barn Sale before and we had a great time chatting, they won for Best Eco Friendly Home Decor. Their next Barn Sale is this weekend, be sure to check it out!
Thanks so much to Philadelphia Magazine, the new issue is out now-be sure to pick it up!
I loved doing these designs for the gorgeous Hollywood Regency shoot. Love that cake!
One of our gorgeous centerpieces was featured with other Philadelphia vendors. Photo by Lorraine Daley.
I really like my mail man Rick but I’ve had to restrain myself lately from hugging him and surely embarrassing both of us. He just keeps bringing awesome deliveries to the studio, like this sneak preview of the new Fall/Winter Philadelphia Wedding Magazine featuring one of my designs and lovely write up about me and the studio!
This icy design makes me long for cooler temps and will surely fire up flower cravings for those Anemones that won’t be available for months.
The new issue of Philadelphia Wedding will be out on Monday 7/25 and it’s a gorgeous and inspiring issue. The Poconos gown photo shoot is amazing (and kind of makes me wish I got married in Winter)and the Cakes feature- unbelievably beautiful-enough to make me wish I could eat gluten. Congratulations to Editor Carrie Denny and her team on a fantastic issue and thank you for the lovely feature!
Our studio is featured onBrooklyn Bride today! Brooklyn Bride is an amazing resource for modern wedding inspiration. They feature weddings, engagement shoots, great products, fabulous vendors and inspiration boards for couples looking for that modern Brooklyn vibe when designing their big day. We love reading the blog so we're super excited to be on it today! Check it out here...
When I first launched Sullivan Owen floral & event design it was very important to me that I connect with like-minded collaborators who shared my aesthetic and passion for incredible design so I was super excited when Beka & Kimberly of Styled Creative came to visit the studio just a few weeks after we opened!
In our first meeting we realized that we had tons in common and they mentioned a photo shoot they working on for Utterly Engaged with the super talented Alison Conklin. I offered to do some floral designs to support their concept and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the way everything turned out.
Be sure to check out the feature on page 142 Issue 15 of Utterly Engaged here
We designed a lush bridal bouquet that was both sweet and spiky with peony, spray rose, ranunculus and thistle.
I was inspired by the details of the gorgeous gowns and accessories so I made a custom bouquet bracelet of pearls and chain to complement the pleated ribbon bouquet handle.
This is by far one of the most creative ways I’ve seen to display boutonnieres! The subtly glittered quince one on the right was my favorite.
Sigh, we had so much fun with these designs. It’s too soon to be pining for French Anemones that won’t be back till November…I’ll just have to sustain myself with the local peony that just started coming in.
We are so excited to share the lovely post Julia from Free People wrote about the studio. It’s so much fun sharing our passion for flowers and creating beautiful compositions. We love reading the FP blog and find it so inspiring, we are truly honored they came to visit and had a great time.
