Jess & Doug were recently married at PECHE at Sherman Mills. The beautiful venue was enhanced with great details by Styled Creative and photographed by Love Me Do. The dozens of floral designs by Sullivan Owen featured gorgeous locally grown dinner plate dahlias, cockscomb, celosia, air plants and succulents and much more. I love the contrast of the soft and pretty flowers with the steel vases and concrete pots. We had so much fun working on these designs and we wish the best to Jess & Doug and their families!

If you caught the most recent Flower Files post, I featured a flower called Blushing Bride. We’ve got brides on the brain ‘round here.
We helped 6 very unique brides celebrate their weddings Labor Day weekend, from simple flower crowns to a large scale hanging floral installation. I have to say that designing with each bride is by far my favorite part of the process. I feel like I’m always in that design mode since we are either installing this week’s wedding or designing for next year’s bride!
We don’t have too many photos from all these weddings yet so here’s a few snippets for fun, from super subtle pale shades to bold purple & lime to wild & colorful it was impossible for us to choose a favorite. The guests told us that these designs were the most beautiful they’ve ever seen and that’s what we strive for with each and every design. More photos coming soon…
I thought I would end the week with some gorgeous images from Jillian McGrath featuring a super cute couple, an amazing field of yellow flowers and of course some of our floral designs. I loved this bouquet so much and it’s been a favorite with our brides so we’ll be making a few new versions of this slightly wild design in just a few weeks when our non-stop wedding schedule starts. Have a great weekend everyone!
I really like my mail man Rick but I’ve had to restrain myself lately from hugging him and surely embarrassing both of us. He just keeps bringing awesome deliveries to the studio, like this sneak preview of the new Fall/Winter Philadelphia Wedding Magazine featuring one of my designs and lovely write up about me and the studio!
This icy design makes me long for cooler temps and will surely fire up flower cravings for those Anemones that won’t be available for months.
The new issue of Philadelphia Wedding will be out on Monday 7/25 and it’s a gorgeous and inspiring issue. The Poconos gown photo shoot is amazing (and kind of makes me wish I got married in Winter)and the Cakes feature- unbelievably beautiful-enough to make me wish I could eat gluten. Congratulations to Editor Carrie Denny and her team on a fantastic issue and thank you for the lovely feature!
When I first launched Sullivan Owen floral & event design it was very important to me that I connect with like-minded collaborators who shared my aesthetic and passion for incredible design so I was super excited when Beka & Kimberly of Styled Creative came to visit the studio just a few weeks after we opened!
In our first meeting we realized that we had tons in common and they mentioned a photo shoot they working on for Utterly Engaged with the super talented Alison Conklin. I offered to do some floral designs to support their concept and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the way everything turned out.
Be sure to check out the feature on page 142 Issue 15 of Utterly Engaged here
We designed a lush bridal bouquet that was both sweet and spiky with peony, spray rose, ranunculus and thistle.
I was inspired by the details of the gorgeous gowns and accessories so I made a custom bouquet bracelet of pearls and chain to complement the pleated ribbon bouquet handle.
This is by far one of the most creative ways I’ve seen to display boutonnieres! The subtly glittered quince one on the right was my favorite.
Sigh, we had so much fun with these designs. It’s too soon to be pining for French Anemones that won’t be back till November…I’ll just have to sustain myself with the local peony that just started coming in.
This weekend we designed a bridal bouquet, boutonnieres and clutches for Jillian and Kenneth's wedding. Jillian requested earthy tones and did not want a typical white bridal bouquet. She wanted a loose and natural feeling to her bouquet. Sullivan Owen designer Adriene made this lovely creation featuring lotus pods, magnolia foliage, ivy, seeded eucalyptus, green roses, freesia and more wrapped in a burlap ribbon. The effect is truly stunning and Jillian didn't put her bouquet down all night!
The Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom were not left out with these sweet clutches
Congratulations Jillian and Kenneth, we loved designing for your wedding!
We’ve been so busy meeting with brides to design for their weddings. These days it’s not so much about “traditional” vs. “non traditional”, you can personalize your wedding in so many ways and create your own traditions. Our upcoming weddings range from a modern, glamorous restaurant reception to a rustic evening at the family farm and everywhere in between. Call or email to set up your complimentary consultation.
